“One of the most intelligent Animals on the planet, Octopus have been thriving in our oceans since before the dinosaurs, in fact the oldest known fossil of an Octopus is 330m-years old. These otherworldly creatures have inspired many a creative and I’m excited to share my take with my ‘Blue Octopus’ reverse painted in rich tones of blue with hints of purple, then gilded in silver leaf with a 24kt gold leaf eye”

Each of Danni’s pieces are original, unique and produced by Danni from start finish here in her studio. Each piece is inked, painted and gilded onto the reverse of toughened glass. After completion the piece is flipped over to reveal the artwork through the glass and framed in a 35mm deep frame, creating a gap between the artwork on the glass and the white backboard, which creates the shadow effect that you can see behind the Octopus, giving the whole piece an almost 3D quality. These shadows can move and dance across the backboard when the piece is hung in natural light, like in a lovely bright room , but will look equally as good under spots or in any well lit space. Once evening comes the these pieces take on a whole new aspect as the metallic leaf radiates its own luminescence.
