Calystegia sepium

£2,295.00

‘Calystegia Sepium’ more commonly known as Bindweed grows where it’s not invited. It winds, it clings, it persists.

Considered a weed, it’s something to be pulled out, controlled, erased. A native British plant that is precious to our pollinating wildlife.

My bindweed is reverse painted and gilded in 24kt gold and set against an industrial, distressed silver background. Trying to understand the tension between fragility and resilience. Between what is valued and what is overlooked.

Misunderstood, persistent, reaching for light regardless. Unwanted and essential.

This piece is about that connection. About finding beauty in what is dismissed. About holding space for contradiction, intrusion and belonging.

Bindweed doesn’t ask permission to grow. It just does, and it will keep doing so.

Each of Danni’s pieces are original, unique and produced by Danni from start finish here in her studio. Each piece is painted and gilded onto the reverse of toughened glass. After completion the piece is flipped over to reveal the artwork through the glass, the glass has been mounted in a contemporary bespoke slim, black, ash frame.

This piece will make any interior space unique and once evening comes the piece will take on a whole new aspect as the metallic leaf radiates its own luminescence.
